Rear Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury

Rear Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury, NBP, OSP, BCGM, ndc, psc has joined as new Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard Wef 15 February 2016. He was born on 28 September 1959. He was commissioned in the Executive Branch in Bangladesh Navy on 10 December 1980. Rear Admiral Aurangzeb attended various courses at home & abroad. He has done cadet training & basic course in Germany, Surface Warfare Officer Course in USA, Instructional Technique Course at Chittagong Teacher's Training College, Gunnery Specialization Course in India, Missile Weapon System Course in China, Naval Staff Course in Germany, C++ Programming with Operating System at AUST in Dhaka, Training on Combat System (Operator Training) in Netherlands, Ship Building Technology Course in South Korea, BA & MDS (Masters in Defence Studies) from National University and MBA from Bangladesh Open University & presently pursuing his M Phil under BUP. He has successfully completed NDC from National Defence College, Mirpur, Dhaka in 2010 and Capstone Course from the same institute in 2012. He is proficient in German and learned French Language also.
During his long naval career Rear Admiral Aurangzeb successfully served in various ships & establishments in various capacities including Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Personnel), Commodore Commanding Chittagong, Commodore Superintendent Dockyard, Naval Secretary & Directors at NHQ, Commanding Officer of the Frigate & different ships, Commandant of Marine Academy, Zonal Commander of Coast Guard East Zone & Principal of Marine Fisheries Academy, Chittagong etc.
Rear Admiral Aurangzeb is happily married with Dr. Afroza Aurangzeb, who is a Gynecologist & blessed with one son & one daughter.

Dr. Afroza Aurangzeb was born in a respectable Muslim family in 1965. In 1989, she obtained her MBBS degree from Chittagong Medical College and Hospital. She successfully completed her DGO and MCPS from Dhaka Medical College and Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) in the year of 2001. Besides, she also completed her Diploma in Medical Ultrasonography from the Institute of Management and Medical Technology in 2007. Dr. Afroza Aurangzeb completed her MS (Gynaecology) from Chittagong Medical College in 2010. In her professional career, she has participated in various seminars, workshops and meetings both at home and abroad. At present she is appointed as Assistant Professor (Gynaecology) in Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, Dhaka.
Dr. Afroza Aurangzeb is happily married to Rear Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury and blessed with one son & one daughter. She likes cooking, sewing and traveling.
As a Senior Lady of Navy Family Dr. Afroza Aurangzeb has successfully carried out various duties in Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association (BNFWA) and Bangladesh Navy Ladies Club of different naval areas. She was also appointed as chairman of Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association, Dhaka. On 15 February 2016 she took over the duties of the President of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) Family Welfare Association (CGFWA) and The Chief Patron of BCG Ladies Club.
